Out of all the others, these colours popped off in my head.” Her iridescent nails also speak volumes while talking me animatedly. Another enthusiast of lifestyles study, Riya mentions how iridescent is her current ‘go-to look’. “You seem them in the crowd and you have to look at them. Isn’t that what fashion has always strived for?” “It’s like a portable rainbow on your feet that spruces up your outfit. Now that’s my kind of lifestyle!” piques an overexcited junior in her new Zara Iridescent kicks.
Iridescent patterns have been making rounds since 2016 on runways of Felder Felder and Forever 21, and have been growing steadily. Technicolor and opalescent pouches and patches were seen on handbags and shoes with opaline and kaleidoscopic sequins were seen as embellishments on block coloured apparels. Balmain’s collection for Fall 2018 was was all about light-reflective holographic, Giambattista Valli’s iridescent makeup on the NYFW ramp, metallic glitter lips, Return of the Jedi retro-holo look is hot and heavy. Many starlets are seen spotting this look recently. The Kareena Kapoor showstopper look for Monisha Jaising at LFW 2018 was beautifully crafted with a tulle gathered floor length skirt dress. The Queen Bey was seen sporting an iridescent outfit set along with her backup dancers on her OTR2 Tour. You know its real regal if the Empress sports it and the critics are here for it. And since they evoke pleasant after-rain feels, the Fall could certainly use the several pops of colours.
Best styled with a block colour to create a focal point in the outfit, Holographic patterns are many a times dual toned. The street style gives you an edge to try out most creative approaches. Style it up with soft coloured fur and chunky sneakers or go loud in here with a big iridescent tote and that laid-back 80’s vibe.
